THE COLLECTIVE
Tashattot (Arabic for dispersion) is an art collective based in Belgium dedicated to supporting visual artists, musicians, film makers and cultural practitioners at large, originally from the SWANA region and currently “dispersed” in Europe. The collective aims at creating opportunities, collaborations, commissions and securing funding for these expatriate artists.
The word tashattot and its English equivalents scattering/dispersion, define the collective in both the literal sense of the word (pertaining to the description of the individuals scattered around the world, far from their homelands), as well as its metaphorical sense which relates to the scattering and dispersion of ideas and ways of thinking, as the word in Arabic is oftentimes used to describe the wandering of the thoughts (tashattot al afkar or scattered thoughts).
Tashattot is a work in progress and a newly launched collective with a fluid and evolving set of actions. It currently is and will always remain open to new ideas and experiences; continuously building on lessons learned and with practice. RendezVous x Tashattot: _amongst_the_animals, GEM&I, twotimeslu
At the heart of this edition of Brussels Art Week you can find the Salon de RendezVous at Rue de la Régence 67, conceived as a site-specific installation.
After its opening on September 3rd, Salon RendezVous hosts Tashattot’s next event, bringing together 3 DJs on the evening of Friday September 5th.

Yasmina Tayoub, also known as Gem&I, is a dancer, choreographer, and DJ whose heart beats to the rhythm of Brussels. A resident at Lyl Radio and Kiosk Radio, she's a vibrant presence in the Brussels music scene. Gem&I weaves through sonic landscapes with a myriad of loves, drifting between Dream’n’Bass, daring trance, ethereal shoegaze, and the entrancing pulse of hypnotic drums and loops. A storyteller at heart, she plays with rhythms as if painting with sound, guiding you through syncopated odysseys, her singular ambition clear: to make the rave an unforgettable dance of romance.

twotimeslu aka lulu/Luay Al Ganim is a multidisciplinary artist and musician. Brussels based, born and raised in Basra, Iraq. Navigating through the realm of genres, tuning to an approach that does not associate itself with identity.
